Spring Fever

Spring has arrived slowly for the CCS baseball and lacrosse teams this year.  Team members were eager to begin practice in early March, but it wasn't until this past week that they were actually able to take their home field.  Having only practiced in the gym, both teams had two games under their belts prior to practicing outside.

The lacrosse team looks to rebound at home this week after beginning the season 0-4 on the road.  The last time out the Cougars fell two goals short, losing to Daniel Boone HS 10 - 12.  This week has started on a high note with the JV team notching a 12 - 2 home victory over Dayspring Academy.  The Cougars next face Harrisburg Christian under the lights Thursday night at 7 pm and again on Friday vs. New Oxford HS at 4 pm.  If you have not experienced the sport of lacrosse, come out and cheer on the Cougars. Admission will not be charged at these games.

Where does CCS play their home baseball games?  The answer is 3910 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook.  The Cougars, in only their second year, have begun to make a push for a CCAC playoff spot. CCS has won two of their last three games behind the pitching of freshman pitcher Taylor Martin.  Earlier today, the Cougars faced the Bobcats of West Shore for the second time this season.  The first was a game the Cougars would like to forget, and they played like it.  Jumping ahead 4 - 1 early in the game, the boys allowed the Bobcats to claw their way back and eventually tie the game in the top of the 6th inning.  In the bottom of the 6th, the Cougars loaded the bases with one out; Tyler Greenly connected on a pitch and pulled it to deep left field.  As the left fielder chased it toward the fence, it looked like it could be a grand slam. Just before getting to the fence he made the catch, but there was plenty of room for the runner on third to tag and score.  This run held up as the winning run as the Cougars got a much needed double play in the top of the 7th and then a fly ball out to finish the game.  You can catch the Cougars in action Friday, April 17, at High Point and then again vs. High Point at home on Monday, April 20.
